Who We Are

Pets Are Worthy Animal Rescue is dedicated to helping dogs and cats left homeless and abandoned for whatever reason – focusing on those “overlooked”. Pets Are Worthy Animal Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3, no-kill, volunteer animal rescue organization serving the Las Vegas/Henderson area.

Animals in our care are all spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their forever homes. We assist dogs and cats in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs and cats in the greatest need take priority.

A letter from our president

My name is Melissa Knutson, and I am the President and Founder of Pets Are Worthy Animal Rescue. Firstly, I would like to thank you for being here and for being a part of our mission and our team.

A little bit about me

I have always dreamed of helping animals since I was a child. Animals have always been apart of my life and helped me through difficult times. Whenever I needed love and acceptance, they were right there. Animals have taught me true love and acceptance. Animals are my purpose.

In 2021, I learned about animals being abandoned or left homeless, partially due to the financial struggles COVID has caused. I also learned about all the innocent animals that were being euthanized because there weren’t enough resources or education about animal welfare. There are too many cats and dogs on the kill list every single day!

My role here at Pets Are Worthy Animal Rescue doesn’t stop at just being the President and Founder. With the help of my amazing volunteers, team, and contributions I am able to do so much more. You are instrumental in the lives of these animals and my role as an animal rescuer. Together, we can make it possible to save these cats and dogs in need. I thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
